LOCATION ¾ mile west of LNWR West Coast Main Line and ¾ mile north of Standish Jc.

Shafts
Sunk 1857 to 106 yards.
Enlarged to 14 feet diameter by Wigan Coal & Iron Co. Ltd and sunk to 530 yards. Shaft passed through faulted ground.
Ince Four Feet Mine intersected at 85 yards, Smith Mine at 307 yards and Arley Mine at 372 yards.
Tunnels driven at 102 yards to Ince Seven Feet Mine, at 203 yards to the; Cannel and King, at 236 yards to the Haigh Yard and at 530 yards to a further area of the Arley Mine.

Winding
Originally semi-portable engine, wooden headgear with 2-9 feet diameter pulleys. Two baskets wound with five rubbing ropes between them.
Twin cylinder horizontal winding engine installed by W.C.&I.Co., rebuilt at Haigh Foundry from two 20 inches x 48 inches single cylinder engines. Two cages wound, 3 decks, 2 tubs per deck. Cages back to back and tubs put in from sides. Round winding ropes, 4 rope conductors per cage, wooden rubbing strips fitted to backs of cages.

Pumping
Originally beam pumping engine working a bucket lift at 106 yards, 8 inch cast iron rising main.

Ventilation
Linked to Broomfield Colliery.

Boilers
Originally three egg-end boilers for pumping engine. W.C.&I.Co. installed five Lancashire boilers with new octagonal section chimney approx. 100ft. high.

CLOSURE – Abandoned March 1932.
