Shafts
Two shafts originally sunk to the Crombouke (Ince Four) and Bickershaw Seven feet mines at 214 and 348 yards respectively.
The Wigan Coal & Iron Co. Ltd deepened the shafts to 540 yards to reach the Trencherbone Mine (Hindley Green Five/Wigan Nine). The deepened shaft also intersected the Hindley Green Yard and Hindley Green Four feet Mines.

Winding
No.1 Pit (Upcast), 20 inches x 54 inches winding engine with single deck cages.
No.2 Pit (Downcast), 36 inches x 72 inches winding engine by Haigh Foundry, double deck cages, two tubs per deck.

Ventilation
Guibal fan, 20 feet x 7 feet, 131,250cfm.
1904 – Walker Bros. “Indestructible” fan 20 feet x 7 feet, rope pulley 8 feet 6 inches diameter, grooved for 8 – 1¾ inch ropes. Cross-compound engine 19 inches + 31 inches x 36 inches, Meyer cut-off slide valves on both cylinders, teak lagging, piped for separate working. Flywheel 16 feet diameter, grooved for 8 ropes, trunk frame planed underneath.
Steam 70psi. Vertical air pump supplied 1904 and again 1908.

Compressed Air
A mixed-pressure turbo-compressor was installed presumably during the early 1900s.

Boilers
Lancashire boilers originally 70psi., subsequently replaced by higher pressure boilers.

Seams Worked
From 1916, only Hindley Green Mines worked.

Output/Workforce
1923 – 230,000 tons, approx. 900 underground
1929 – 311 U/G, 104 S/F.
