Shafts
Early shafts sunk c1830s. (Nos.1 & 2)
West and East Caroline Pits sunk 1854 to Pemberton Four Feet Mine at 295 yards.
Staple pit sunk (near E. Caroline Pit) 1858 from Pemberton Four Feet to Cannel Mine.
No.3 Caroline (Deep Pit) sunk 1869 to Arley Mine at 815 yards.

Winding
West and East Caroline Pits, Single cylinder horizontal winding engine at each pit. Both engines 30 inches x 60 inches, Cornish valves, made by Robert Daglish, St Helens. (see also Pemberton Colliery) Staple Pit, coal wound from Cannel to Pemberton Four Feet and transferred to E. Caroline Pit for winding to surface.
No.3 Caroline Pit, Twin cylinder horizontal engine by Robert Daglish, 36 inches x 72 inches, Cornish valves, 22 feet dia. parallel winding drum. (see below)

Ventilation – Furnace.

CLOSURE – 1894
Plant sold off 18 September 1894.
No.3 Pit winding engine to Andrew Knowles & Sons, Agecroft (New Winnings) No.3 Pit.
West & East Caroline Pits engines rebuilt as a Pair by Wood & Gee for Pemberton Colliery.

SUBSEQUENT RE-WORKING
The colliery was re-worked from time to time on a relatively small scale.
Latham Bros. – re-started colliery, 1894, closed March 1911.
Latham & Gaskill – re-started in 1920, closed February 1926.
De-watering of old pits commenced 1922 by S. & G. Rayner. Rose Bridge Colliery Co. Ltd formed by Rayners, 1923. Work stopped. April 1926. Colliery abandoned 24 September 1927.
Re-started again 1929 and coal produced 1930. Colliery closed 24 July 1941 for final time.
Rose Bridge Colliery Co. Ltd continued as railway wagon repairers to c1953. Company in voluntary liquidation.

Ventilation (Rose Bridge Colliery Co. Ltd)
Steart-Walker axial flow fan. Converted by Walker Bros. to Aerex axial flow fan, 1936. 75,000cfm., 1.9 inches wg. 540rpm.

Power (1933)
Electricity, 400 volts, 3 phase from public supply.

Output/Workforce (1933) – 100,000 tons. U/G 250, 120 surface
