An accident occurred at the Bispham Colliery owned by Blanker and Company when a collier, John Ashton, was killed when a stone fell on him and broke his thigh and crushed his back. The man was reported to have had a large family. (Wigan Examiner)

Colliery purchased.
In an important development at Wigan in Orrell by the purchase of the Bispham Hall Colliery by a new company under the title the Bispham Hall Terracotta and Brick Co and work has resumed on full time this week and includes the brickwork and the pit as well as the farms about 100 acres.
