Aberaman Clay Level

ABERAMAN CLAY LEVEL

This level was worked for both clay and the steam coal seams by the Powell Duffryn Steam Coal Company Limited. It was not listed prior to 1898 and in 1913 it employed 75 men. It was still listed in 1917 and employed 16 men in 1918.    It was not listed in 1921 but in 1938 employed 76 men. It had the same management as Aberaman Colliery. It was listed as being ‘temporarily’ closed in March 1938.

As the name implies it worked the Graig seam.  It was listed under the ownership of the Powell Duffryn Steam Coal Company Limited in 1878, it then disappears.
