Cwmavon, Afan Valley

This mine was worked prior to 1917 by T. David who then formed the Bwllch Colliery Company which was not a member of the Monmouthshire and South Wales Coal Owners Association.

In 1918 it employed 10 men underground and 4 men on the surface. It was worked in the 1920’s abandoning the Wernddu Rider in January 1926.

This was also the name of a small level that was worked under license from the National Coal Board and owned in 1960 by J. Kmiec, and in 1988 by the Bwllch Colliery Company.
