Horace W. Mussen died, as the result of an accident, in April, 1912, at the age of 88.

From 1892 to 1896 he was a student in Applied Science at the McGill University, Montreal, where he obtained the degree of B.A.Sc., in mining engineering, and for seven years subsequently he was engaged in various capacities on gold mines in British Columbia, for the most part in the vicinity of Nelson.

In 1903 he went to Western Siberia and spent three or four years at Akmolinsk, and afterwards managed a mine at Kotchkar, in the Government of Orenburg, Russia. At the time of his death he was engaged at Kieff, in South Russia. He was a member of the American Institute of Mining Engineers.

Mr. Mussen was elected an Associate of the Institution in January, 1903.
