Obituaries of members of the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy 1892-1968.

In 1892 leading hard-rock mining professionals formed The Institution of Mining and Metallurgy (IMM) for graduates of British mining schools who were working both throughout the Empire and the rest of the World.

The following information was collected by the late David Dixon as part of a prosopographical study of the careers of mining graduates from British Mining Schools. This was for a Doctoral thesis from the University of Southampton – Dixon, D. ‘The results and consequences of technical education: a historical case study of metalliferous mining education prior to 1939 with special reference to the Camborne School of Mines and the Royal School of Mines’.

Thanks are due to Dr Roger Burt for making David’s files available to be digitised for use on this website.
