Donald Frederick Beckhuson was killed in action on March 6th, 1916, at the age of 22 years.

He had just completed his third year at the Royal School of Mines when war broke out, and he speedily joined the P.S.U. Brigade of the Royal Fusiliers. In February, 1915, he obtained a commission in the West Riding Regiment (Duke of Wellington’s), and nine months later was attached to the Tunnelling Section of the Royal Engineers. When he met with his death he was not working with the Royal Engineers, as he had returned to his regiment a few weeks previously.

Mr. Beckhuson was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1914.
