Thomas Valentine Browne died in the summer of 1909, at the age of 40.

He received a technical education in Melbourne, and from 1889 to 1903 he held the position of assayer at Broken Hill and analyst at Port Adelaide. During the next fifteen years he occupied responsible posts, chiefly in charge of cyanide plant, on various Western Australian mines, and at the date of his death was metallurgist at Caulfield, Victoria.

Mr. Browne was elected a Member of the Institution in 1905.
