George Albert Chapman died suddenly in New York on August 15th, 1931, at the age of 51.

While at school he was awarded two L.C.C. scholarships and certificates from the Science and Art Department in various branches of physics and engineering, and in July, 1899, he entered the laboratory of Messrs. Sulman & Picard as assayer and metallurgical assistant. In April, 1904, he obtained an appointment with Minerals Separation, Ltd., with which company he was associated for the remainder of his life.

In the course of his work he visited Broken Hill, South Russia, Canada, Cuba, Chile, Mexico, and the United States, and incidentally was responsible for and in charge of the M.S. installation at the Anaconda, Inspiration, and Calumet & Hecla mines.

Mr. Chapman was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1902, and was transferred to Associateship in 1911 and to Membership in 1923.
