John Leslie Connor was killed in action at Sali Bair, Gallipoli, on August 7th, 1915. He was a member of the Third Australian Expeditionary Force, and at the time of his death held the rank of Sergeant in the 8th Light Horse Regiment.

He was 30 years of age, and was a graduate of the University of Melbourne, holding the degree of Bachelor of Mining Engineering. From 1910 to 1914 he was on the staff of the Golden Horse Shoe Estates Co. at Boulder, Western Australia, as assistant surveyor and geologist.

Mr. Connor was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1913.
