William Morgan Collins died in an underground accident at the Wernos Colliery, Ammanford, Carmarthenshire, on 21st June, 1957. He was 19 years old.

Mr. Collins was born at Bulawayo and educated at Gwelo, Southern Rhodesia. His first appointment was as learner sampler with Globe and Phoenix Gold Mining Co., Ltd., and he came to England in 1956 to work as official learner with the National Coal Board, South-Western Division.

He had just been admitted to Studentship of the Institution. His father, Mr. H.E. Collins of Bulawayo, is an Associate Member of the Institution.
