Henry Percy De Pencier died in Ontario, Canada, after a short illness, on November 29th, 1935, at the age of 60.

He was born at Wakefield, Quebec, and after four years’ practical experience of mining in British Columbia he took the mining engineering course at McGill University, receiving the B.Sc. degree in 1902. For about a year he acted as demonstrator in the ore-dressing laboratory at the University, and conducted researches into rock-crushing. In 1903 he received the degree of M.Sc. Later in that year he went to South Africa to join the staff of Messrs. H. Eckstein & Co., later becoming general manager of the Princess Estate mine for the Goertz group. He returned to Canada in 1909, and after about a year spent in Northern Ontario, and another brief visit to the Rand, he joined the Canadian Mining & Exploration Co., Ltd., and became associated with the International Nickel Co. and the Dome Mines, Ltd. He subsequently was appointed first vice-president and general manager of the Dome Mines, which positions he retained to the end of his life.

Mr. De Pencier was elected a Member of the Institution in 1933.
