Christopher Tatham Elmslie died suddenly in New South Wales on June 17th, 1931.

His first connexion with mining dated haul; to 1883, when he was at Charters Towers, Queensland, and until 1887 he was working on gold and tin properties in Queensland and Western Australia. In the latter year he became associated with the Croydon goldfield in Queensland as manager of mines in the Golden Gate and True Blue districts.

For some years he was resident in London, practising as a consulting engineer and engaged in the development of various mining concessions in Australia, and in 1914 returned to Sydney, New South Wales, where he established himself in practice under the style of Elmslie, Limited.

Mr. Elmslie was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1895.
