Luther Cyril Franck died on March 25th, 1909, at Randfondtein, Transvaal.

He received his training at the Royal School of Mines, and after working at various mines in Western Australia, he went to the Transvaal, where he joined the Surveying Staff of Messrs. Eckstein & Co. Two years later he was appointed Assistant Surveyor at the Langlaagte Mine and, after holding a similar position at the Robinson Deep Mines, he was appointed Mine Surveyor to the “B. Blocks” at Langlaagte a few months before his death.

Mr. Franck was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1899.
