Arthur Stephen Greener died on April 18th, 1918, as the result of wounds received in action in November, 1916, aged 28 years.

In October, 1908, he entered the Royal School of Mines as a student, and during his course there spent a year at a coal mine near Crook, Co. Durham, two or three months at South Crofty and a similar period at Greenside lead mine in Cumberland. Subsequently, he went to the Federated Malay States, to the Pusing Bham Tin Mines, Perak.

Returning home after the outbreak of war, he obtained his commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the 3rd Northumberland Fusiliers, being later advanced to the rank of Captain. He was awarded the Military Cross.

Mr. Greener was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1911.
