John Galloway was killed in action in Egypt in July, 1942, at the age of 26.

He entered the Mining School of the University of Otago, New Zealand, on March 1st, 1935, and had only recently completed his course on the outbreak of the present war.

He joined the New Zealand Royal Engineers, and at the date of his death held a commission as 2nd Lieutenant.

Mr. Galloway was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1938.
