Thomas Patrick Grey died on 5th July, 1951, at the age of 82.
He was educated at Aldenham School and entered the Royal School of Mines in 1887, leaving after a year for the University of Wurtzburg where he studied chemistry and completing his training from 1889 to 1891 at the Clausthal School of Mines. In 1892 he was appointed assayer and assistant at the Nundydroog Goldmine, South India, being promoted in the following year to the position of chief reduction officer and assayer at Nundydroog. He served in that capacity for 28 years.
Mr. Grey had to retire from professional work in 1921 owing to the partial failure of his sight. He later became completely blind but continued to take an active interest in the affairs of the Institution until his death.
Mr. Grey was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1895, and transferred to Membership in 1928.
