Alfred James Hopkins died in March, 1911.

From 1893 to 1898 he worked underground in various mines in Western Australia, and for the next four yours was chief assayer to Hannan’s Oroya. Gold Mining Co. Subsequently for two years he was assistant manager on a mine in Mines Geraes, Brazil, and held a similar position until 1906 on a gold and silver mine in Honduras. From 1906 to the date of his death, he was principally occupied in England.

Mr. Hopkins was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1905.
