Francis Marshall King died on 25th March, 1956, at the age of 54.

Born in Scotland, Mr. King worked with the firm of Messrs. John and G.H. Geddes, mining engineers in Edinburgh, from 1918 to 1923 and then took a 3-year course in coal and oil mining at the Heriot-Watt College, Edinburgh. He joined Consolidated African Selection Trust, Ltd., as mining engineer in 1928 and worked on the Gold Coast and in Sierra Leone and from 1934 to 1944 at Ariston Gold Mines, Ltd.

Mr. King was elected to Associate Membership of the Institution in 1931.
