Norman Kynaston Kitto died on 28th September, 1965. He was 67 years of age.

Mr. Kitto joined South Crofty Mine, Ltd., Cornwall, in 1914, studying part-time at Redruth School of Mines from then until 1918 and again from 1919 to 1921. Mr. Kitto then continued his technical training at Camborne School of Mines, gaining the first-class Associateship of the School in 1923.

Thereafter he worked with South Crofty in various positions: from 1923 to 1955 as chief surveyor; from 1955 to 1957 as assistant manager; from 1957 to 1959 as acting manager; and from 1959 until 1963 as manager. For a number of years Mr. Kitto was also engaged as surveying instructor at Redruth School of Mines.

Mr. Kitto was elected to Student Membership of the Institution in 1922; he was transferred to Associate Membership in 1925 and to full Membership in 1961. He was also an Associate of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the author of a number of technical papers.
