Godfrey Davey Lucas died on January 20th, 1922, in the Federated Malay States, aged 43 years.

Educated at Haileybury, he graduated from the Royal School of Mines in 1901 with an Associateship, and on completion of his course served as a pupil with the firm of Newton, Chambers & Co., Ltd., of Sheffield, for about four months.

He then received an appointment as Inspector of Mines at Selangor, Federated Malay States, and three years later, in 1905, he was promoted to the position of Assistant Warden of Mines. He continued his connection with the Mines Department at Selangor, and afterwards as Senior Warden of Mines at Batu Gajah, until his death.

Mr. Lucas was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1902, and was transferred to Associateship in 1906.
