Francis Muston Marshall died in a London hospital on October 17th, 1922, aged 52.
He started his professional career as at miner in British Columbia and gradually rose until from 1897 to 1900 he was resident manager of the Gold Fields of British Columbia, Ltd., in addition to reporting on various properties for the company. In 1901 he was appointed assistant engineer for
Andrews’ Wassau Co., Ltd., in West Africa, and in the following year was engaged in reporting on various concessions for the Liverpool and Axim Syndicate, also in West Africa.
In 1903 he was engaged as assistant engineer and manager of the Sudan Exploration, Ltd. From 1908 to 1910 he was in Norway and Sweden, and went thence to the United States, returning to Sweden in 1917. S
hortly after the outbreak of war he enlisted in the 2/15 Batt. County of London Regiment, and was afterwards transferred to the R.F.A. In 1920 he went to Nigeria on a prospecting expedition.
Mr. Marshall was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1907.
