Henry Alexander Drummond Malcolm died on February 16th, 1917, of wounds received in action. He was about 28 years of age, and since the autumn of 1915 had been serving as a trooper in the gun section of King Edward’s Horse.

He studied assaying and chemistry at the laboratories of Mr. G.T. Holloway, and in December, 1908, went out to Nicaragua, where the whole of his professional work was done. For five years he was with the Santa Francisca Gold Estates, Ltd., at Leon; and during the two years immediately preceding his return to England to enlist in the Army, he held an appointment with the Babilonia Gold Mines, Ltd., at Chontales.

Mr. Malcolm was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1907.
