James Wilson Massie died in March, 1910, aged 28.

He received a general course of training in mechanical engineering, and afterwards specialised in mining at the Glasgow and West of Scotland Technical Institute. At the end of 1909 he accepted an engagement at Lindley, Orange River Colony, where he died.

Mr. Massie was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1909.
