Arthur Victor Paull died on 14th June, 1951, in Cornwall at the age of 56.

From 1911 to 1913 he was engaged on a mining course at the Redruth Branch of the School of Metalliferous Mining (Cornwall), obtaining a first class Certificate of the School. He then worked at South Crofty mine, being appointed surveyor in March, 1914. He held this position until 1920, when he left for the Sudan, where he was employed for a year on the Gabait gold mine. In 1922 he joined the staff of Akim, Ltd., in West Africa, for whom he worked until 1928, first as assistant engineer and later as acting general manager. He held a similar position for nearly a year with Atta Gold Co., Ltd., before leaving the Gold Coast in 1929 to join the staff of Bolivar Venezuela Gold Mines, Ltd., in Venezuela. A year later he was appointed mining engineer to New Goldfields of Venezuela, Ltd., and subsequently held the positions of chief engineer (1931-32), superintendent of mines (1932-37) and general superintendent of mines (1937-38). Returning to England in 1939, Mr. Paull joined the staff of the Mining Department of the School of Metalliferous Mining (Cornwall) and was Vice-Principal of the School at the time of his death.

Mr. Paull was elected to Associate Membership of the Institution in 1922 and was transferred to Membership in 1940.
