Alfred Monod Pilter died in Western Australia on 30 December, 1965. He was 84 years of age.

Educated at Jesus College, Cambridge, Mr. Pilter spent almost all his working life in Malaya. He was engaged in a number of managerial capacities with Kinta Tin Mines, Ltd., Gopeng Tin Mining Co., Ltd., Seremban Tin Mining Co., Ltd., and other tin mining companies. Mr. Pilter also undertook prospecting engagements in Siam at various times. After being interned in Singapore he returned to the United Kingdom for a brief visit, but in 1946 took up residence in Western Australia, paying regular visits to Malaya.

Mr. Pilter was elected to Associate Membership of the Institution in 1922
