Arthur Caleb Pollard died in Bolivia on December 14th, 1919, at the age of 33 years.

He attended both the Royal College of Science (1908-10) and the Royal School of Mines (1909-12) and obtained the Associateship of each college. In 1912 he became also a member of the Imperial College of Science and Technology and obtained the degree of B.Sc. of the London University.

On completion of his technical training he went to Bolivia, and joined the staff of the Aramayo Francke Mines, Ltd. From October, 1912, to March, 1913, he was engaged in making sampling and assaying trials on the concentration at the Sala Sala mine, and for a similar period was in charge of the concentration and general mill work at the Santa Barbara mine. From October, 1913, to January, 1915, he was resident manager of the Sala Sala section, and in February of the latter year he was appointed resident manager of the Sagrario mines at Chorolque. In June, 1916, he joined the Compañia Huanchaca de Bolivia, at Pulacayo.

Mr. Pollard was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1913, and transferred to Associateship in 1915.
