George Henry Plowman died in a London nursing home on May 22nd, 1935, at the age of 40.

He entered the Camborne School of Mines in September, 1912, and graduated with the 1st class Diploma, in September, 1919, having in the meantime served for 4¼ years in H.M. Forces (Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers). On completing his course, he went to South America to join the staff of the Oroville Dredging Co., Republic of Colombia, and two years later was appointed chief efficiency engineer at the Fresnillo Mine of the Mexican Corporation, Ltd.

He returned to England in June, 1925, and in the following November went to East Africa to examine mining properties for the National Mining Corporation, Ltd., in Kenya. In October, 1926, he was engaged in mine examination in Czechoslovakia.

Returning once more to England, he was appointed manager of the Wheel Bullet mine in Cornwall when that mine was unwatered and developed. On the termination of that engagement, he went to West Africa, where he was for one year assistant manager of the Abosso Mine, end subsequently, until his death, general manager of the Ariston Mine, Prestea.

Mr. Plowman was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1914, and was transferred to Associateship in 1924 and to Membership in 1931.
