Harold Carmichael Robson died on 27 March, 1966. He was 75 years of age.

Having received his technical training at Penzance School of Mines and the Cass Technical Institute, London, Mr. Robson spent two years in Cornwall before taking up an appointment in Siberia in 1910. His first post there was as assistant on an examination tour in the Altai Mountains for Siberian Syndicate, Ltd., and in the following year he joined Spassky Copper Mine, Ltd., as smelter shift boss, later being appointed superintendent. He held this position until 1925, when he became resident manager, Lena Goldfields, Ltd.

In 1926 Mr. Robson moved to India to take up the appointment of works manager Indian Copper Corporation. Ltd., Bihar, where he remained until his retirement in 1946. Thereafter he was retained as consulting metallurgist by a number of companies, including the Indian Copper Corporation, Ltd. He also carried on various professional assignments in Europe and the Middle and Far East.

Mr. Robson was elected to Student Membership of the Institution in 1911; was transferred to Associate Membership in 1918: and to full Membership in 1933. He was also a member of various professional bodies in America, Australia, India and elsewhere. Among his technical papers is that entitled ‘Notes on copper refinery furnace firing and refractories’ (Transactions, vol. 45. 1935-36).
