Thomas Henry Richards died at Camborne, Cornwall, on November 17th, 1933, at the age of 75.

From 1878 to 1883 he was trained at the Mining Association of Cornwall, and secured the Associati0n’s Medal and various prizes. He then entered the Royal School of Mines, and during his studentship he was awarded the City and Guilds of London Medal and Prize for mine surveying, ranking first in all England.

In 1889 he was appointed assistant in the Rio Tinto laboratory in England, and subsequently in the laboratory on the mines, and later he was assistant engineer in the mining and cementation departments, and in 1900 transferred to the opencast works as assistant to the chief engineer.

In June, 1901, he went to Mexico, as mine manager at the Bacis gold and silver mines, Durango, and held that position until 1909, when he returned to England and thenceforth was engaged on Cornish tin mines.

Mr. Richards was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1908.
