Horace B. A. Sparks died in the Transvaal in April, 1909.

He graduated at the Royal School of Mines in 1907, and was selected by the Council of the Institution for a post-graduate course of one year at the Jumpers’ Deep Mine, Transvaal, on the satisfactory completion of which, he was awarded a Post-graduate Course Certificate by the Institution. Before his death he held an appointment on the staff of the Jumpers’ Deep Mine for a short time.

Mr. Sparks was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1907.
