Spencer Minors Septimus Sherwell died in South Africa in February, 1921, at the age of 29.

He received his technical training at the Camborne School of Mines, and on the completion of his course in 1911, he received an appointment with the Globe & Phœnix Gold Mining Co., at Gwelo, Rhodesia. In 1913 he removed to the Transvaal, to the Nourse Mines, Ltd, at Denver. After the outbreak of the war he returned home and joined the R.E.

Mr. Sherwell was admitted to Studentship of the institution in 1911.
