William Herbert Swift died on February 23rd, 1924 after a short illness, at the age of 66.

He commenced his professional career in 1883, and was connected with gold-mining, principally in West Africa, throughout his whole career, though he was also interested in tin to a considerable extent and held directorships in several mining companies in Nigeria and elsewhere.

Mr. Swift was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1892.
