Arthur Wilfred Turner died at Dunedin, New Zealand, on September 29th, 1939, at the age of 39.

He received his technical training at the Otago School of Mines from 1922 to 1925, during his vacation obtaining practical experience at the Blackwater Mines, Wainta, and after graduation he was for a few months engaged as surveyor by the Linton Coal Co., Ltd., Ohai.

In 1926 he went to the Federated Malay States as assistant mining engineer with the Pahang Consolidated 00., Ltd., with which company he remained until the latter part of 1929. He returned to New Zealand in 1930 to take up an appointment as assistant mining engineer with the Rimu Gold Dredging Co., Ltd., Hokitika, and at the time of his death was an inspector of mines, with his office at Greymouth.

Mr. Turner was admitted to Studentship of the Institution in 1925, and was elected an Associate in 1931.
