Frank Taylor died on December 24th, 1908. He was the fourth son of the late John Taylor and was born in London in 1849.

He was educated at Carshalton School, and afterwards at the Royal School of Mines, where he won the De la Béche Medal in 1871. In 1872, he joined the staff of Messrs. John Taylor & Sons, for whom the made professional visits to America, the West Indies, Spain, Portugal and Australia. He subsequently became manager of the Sandycroft Foundry Co., and, in 1890, a partner in the firm of John Taylor & Sons, whose Australian enterprises he directed.

Mr. Taylor was an original Member of the Institution.
