Augustus Bressan Watson died in Nigeria on January 19th, 1935, at the age of 61.

He was born in New Zealand, and his early professional work, from 1895 to 1902, was in the assaying, milling and cyanide departments of the Waihi and Waihi Silverton, and the Waitekauri gold mining companies.

In 1903 he went to Western Australia, where he was engaged until 1913 on the metallurgical side of gold mining companies, including Orion and Morning Star. From 1914 onward he was associated with West Africa, first with the Broomassie Mines, Ltd., afterwards with the Naraguta Tin Mines, Ltd. At the time of his death he was manager of the Offin River Gold Estates, Ltd.

Mr. Watson was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1917.
