Edward Willey died in British Columbia in July, 1913, at the age of 29.

He studied mining at Leeds University, where he obtained the diploma in that subject; he also obtained a First Class Colliery Manager’s Certificate, and was a B.Sc. of London University. From 1903 to 1907 he was surveyor and general assistant on coal mines in Yorkshire, and for the following four years was assistant superintendent on the manganese mines of the Workington Iron and Steel Co., at Shimoga, Mysore, India.

In 1912 he went to British Columbia, and it was there that his death occurred after an illness of only two days. He was then engaged with the Canadian Collieries (Dunsmuir), Ltd., at Cumberland, B.C.

Mr. Willey was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1911.
