Thomas Hubert Vere Henry Weir died on August 28th, 1930, at the age of 49.

He entered the Camborne School of Mines in September, 1902, and on the completion of his diploma course, he went to Mexico as assistant superintendent at the Hacienda de Dolores mine, Vallecillo. His next appointment was as assistant to a Spanish engineer in Southern Spain and Morocco, and in 1910 he was engaged on a prospecting expedition in the Belgian Congo. In the middle of 1913 he returned to America and was for a time on the staff of the Old Dominion Copper Mining & Smelting Co., in Arizona.

In September, 1915, while in Canada, he joined H.M. Forces and obtained a commission in the RE. (Tunnelling Section). From 1919 to 1923 he was engaged in alluvial mining and prospecting in Nigeria, and after eighteen months employment on reporting and prospecting in the Republic of Columbia, he was again in Nigeria until the close of 1929.

Mr. Weir was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1919.
